Sommet Center Nominated For 2009 Arena Of The Year Award by Pollstar Magazine

(Nashville, TN – December 7, 2009) The Sommet Center has been nominated for the 2009 Pollstar Concert Industry Arena of the Year Award. Sommet Center, home of the Nashville Predators, is among seven other arenas that have been nominated for this international honor. Other arenas nominated are Air Canada Centre (Toronto, ON), BOK Center (Tulsa, OK), HP Pavilion (San Jose, CA), Madison Square Garden (New York, NY), Sprint Center (Kansas City, MO), Staples Center (Los Angeles, CA), and Xcel Energy Center (Saint Paul, MN).

Pollstar has conducted this awards event for 20 years. This is the sixth nomination overall and third consecutive for the Sommet Center. The 20th Annual Pollstar Concert Industry Awards Ceremony will take place February 17, 2010 in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theater.

Pollstar Magazine focuses primarily on the concert industry and also reports on news regarding sports and entertainment. The nominating committee is made up of industry leaders in all facets of the entertainment business; arena managers, artists, artist managers, agents and promoters from across the country and abroad. Winner of the award is determined by the international readership of Pollstar.

Sommet Center opened in December 1996. The facility has hosted over 12 million guests for such events as the NCAA Men’s Basketball Regional Tournament, SEC and OVC Men’s & Women’s Basketball Tournament, as well as entertainers such as Garth Brooks, Elton John and Billy Joel, Rolling Stones, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Martina McBride. The Sommet Center has been the home of the NHL’s Nashville Predators since 1998.
