Roussel Helps Saint John To Memorial Cup Semis

by Jay Levin / Nashville Predators

Preds prospect Charles-Olivier Roussel, a second round pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, picked up an assist to go along with a +2 plus/minus rating in Saint John's 4-1 win against tournament host Shawinigan in the final game of the round robin portion of the 2012 Memorial Cup. With the win Saint John improved to 2-1-0 in the tournament and will get the night off before Friday's semifinals against the winner of tonight's Edmonton/Shawinigan play-in game.

Roussel finished the round robin part of the tournament with one goal and three assists and a +4 plus/minus in three games. His four points are tied for most among tournament defensemen. The four points are also tied with fellow Preds prospect Austin Watson for third-most among all skaters in the tournament.

Watson and the London Knights also posted a 2-1-0 record in the round robin, but earned a bye into Sunday's Memorial Cup Championship Game by virtue of the head-to-head win over Saint John.

Remaining Memorial Cup Schedule:
Thursday - Shawinigan (host) vs. Edmonton (WHL)
Friday (Semifinal) - Saint John (QMJHL) vs. Thursday's Winner
Sunday (Championship) - London (OHL) vs. Friday's Winner
