A two-game trip starts tonight (at 6 p.m. CT) for the Nashville Predators, who visit the Washington Capitals at Verizon Center.
The Predators (34-24-11) have won two in a row, including a 5-4 victory in overtime versus the Winnipeg Jets that featured a two-goal rally for Nashville. Tonight's contest will conclude the season series between the Caps and Preds; Nashville won the first meeting, 5-2, on Feb. 25. In the win, Filip Forsberg recorded three more points against the team that drafted him in 2012, to up his offensive point total to nine points (5g-4a) in five career games against the Capitals.
Washington (45-17-7) sits atop the NHL with 97 points and ended a four-game losing streak with a win at home over the Wild on March 14. Alex Ovechkin snapped a 10-game stretch without a goal in the 4-2 victory, while Niklas Backstrom reached the 50-assist mark for the fourth consecutive season.
Nashville held a full morning skate on Thursday, with Miikka Salomaki (Injured Reserve; lower-body injury), Vernon Fiddler (upper-body injury) and Colin Wilson (lower-body injury) taking part.
Below is a projected lineup based on the session:
Filip Forsberg - Ryan Johansen - Viktor Arvidsson
Kevin Fiala - Mike Fisher - Craig Smith
James Neal - Calle Jarnkrok - PA Parenteau
Cody McLeod - Colton Sissons - Austin Watson
Roman Josi - Ryan Ellis
Mattias Ekholm - P.K. Subban
