Feb. 22, 2020: Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Nashville Predators

Up until two seasons ago, Rocco Grimaldi had never played more than 20 NHL games in a single season. That all changed when he arrived in Nashville.
The Predators signed the 5-foot-6 forward as a free agent back in the summer of 2018, and since then, the 27-year-old Grimaldi has found himself a full-time job in Tennessee.

Grimaldi established career highs in games played (66), goals (10), assists (21), points (31), plus-minus (+10), shots (122) and average time-on-ice (12:39) in the 2019-20 season. He was third among Predators forwards and fifth among all team skaters in plus-minus (+10), and his 31 points tied for the sixth-most among Nashville forwards.
What Grimaldi lacks in size he more than makes up for in speed and skill, and he's become a fan favorite in Nashville. The Predators will rely on Grimaldi once again to play a reliable game at both ends of the ice and contribute on offense in 2021.
By the Numbers:
- Grimaldi has appeared in a total of 156 NHL contests, tallying 20 goals and 54 points, and he has also suited up for 247 career AHL contests with the Milwaukee Admirals, San Antonio Rampage and Portland Pirates, tallying 172 points (80g-92a).
- He scored the gold-medal winning goal for the U.S. at the 2013 World Junior Championship; also won gold medals with the U.S. at the 2010 and 2011 U-18 World Championships.
- Grimaldi grew up playing roller hockey in Southern California and moved to the Detroit area to play AAA hockey for Little Caesars when he was 12.
Fun Fact:
- Grimaldi owns the distinction of skating in two professional hockey games in the same day. On Nov. 18, 2014, Grimaldi suited up for the AHL's San Antonio Rampage for a morning contest; during the third period, he was recalled by the NHL's Florida Panthers and played that night in Los Angeles against the Kings in his native Southern California.
