Preds vs. Ducks: 2010-11 Season Series At A Glance

The Predators open the 2011 Stanley Cup playoffs with a Western Conference Quarterfinals matchup against the Anaheim ducks. The Predators went 3-1-0 against the Ducks during the regular season.

Rinne vs. Hiller (Sullivan GWG) 
Game Highlights
After a scoreless first period the teams traded goals early in the second frame before Steve Sullivan's power-play tally midway through the period gave the Preds a lead they would not relinquish. Immediately after taking the lead, Nashville killed off two overlapping penalties (including 45 second of three-on-five) to preserve the lead. Patric Hornqvist scored late in the period and David Legwand closed out the scoring in the third period. Rinne stopped 29-of-30 shots before leaving early in the third period due to injury. Anders Lindback made his NHL debut in relief stopping all seven shots he faced.

Nov. 7 at Anaheim: Ducks 5, Predators 4
Hiller vs. Lindback (Mara GWG) 
Game Highlights 
Anders Lindback made 32 saves, but Paul Mara's goal with 1.7 seconds remaining in regulation gave the Ducks a 5-4 win in a back-and-forth game. The teams alternated scoring throughout the game with Anaheim striking first 52 seconds into the game. Patric Hornqvist and Cal O'Reilly posted a goal and an assist each, while Cody Franson contributed a pair of points from the blueline. Anaheim's Blake-Koivu-Selanne line registered three goals and three assists to pace the Ducks offense.

Jan. 5 at Anaheim: Predators 4, Ducks 1
Rinne vs. Hiller (Hornqvist GWG) 
Game Highlights 
Pekka Rinne was the star of the night turning aside 40-of-41 shots, while Patric Hornqvist and Sergei Kostitsyn provided the offense with a goal and an assist each. Jerred Smithson opened the scoring 5:10 into the game after a lengthy video review and Hornqvist gave the Preds a 2-0 lead early in the second period. The Ducks cut the lead to 2-1 midway through the third period, but the Preds iced the game with a pair of empty net goals in the final minute of play.

Mar. 24 at Nashville: Predators 5, Ducks 4
Rinne vs. Hiller/Ellis (Legwand GWG)
  Game Highlights  
Pekka Rinne was sensational, making 34 saves, including several highlight reel stops in the first period to keep the Preds ahead early. Nashville chased Jonas Hiller, making his first start since Feb. 13, scoring three times in the first 11:37 of the game. The Ducks rallied late, scoring twice in the final 4:46 of regulation to pull within one goal. Five different Preds skaters added two points, including Sergei Kostitsyn with a pair of goals. David Legwand's shorthanded tally with 10:31 left in regulation gave the Preds a 5-1 lead at the time, but turned out to stand as the game-winner.
