Toys for Tots is a program designed to help needy children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas and to play an active role in the development of one of the nation's most valuable natural resources: children. Toys for Tots attempts to unite all members of local communities in a common cause during the holiday season with the annual toy collection and distribution campaign and in doing so, help to better communities for the future.
The mission of the USMC Toys for Tots program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community where the campaign is conducted. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.
The Nashville Predators host several drives throughout the season benefitting numerous Middle Tennessee charities and organizations, including; Second Harvest Food Bank (food drive, 11/13), Siloam Center (cold medicine drive, 2/5), Best Buddies (toy drive, 2/19), Girls on the Run (school supply drive, 3/19) and Monroe Harding (household supply drive, 3/26). The Nashville Predators are also involved in several holiday outreach initiatives such as visits to patients at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s hospital, hosting Nashville youth in suites at Predators games and holiday parties sponsored by players for underprivileged youth.
