The Predators' "Get Out And Learn!" (G.O.A.L!) free youth hockey program, presented by Delta Dental of Tennessee, wrapped up its second four-week session this past month at Southern Ice Arena in Franklin.

To date, over 125 participants have graduated the Predators' G.O.A.L! program, learning the basics of skating and ice hockey. The most recent participants were treated to guest instructors featuring Predators forward Vernon Fiddler, defenseman Greg Zanon and team mascot GNASH.  While the focus was on skill development, Southern Ice Arena instructors along with TPH Thunder Midget Major AAA U18 players coached the kids utilizing cross-ice stations working in small groups and a fun, rewarding atmosphere.

G.O.A.L! offers youngsters the opportunity to experience the excitement of hockey without the cost of purchasing equipment.  Designed for boys and girls ages 4 to 9 with no prior experience, this free four-week ice hockey program introduces the exciting sport of hockey to kids while teaching life experiences of teamwork, sportsmanship and self-confidence. Full equipment, including skate rental, is provided by the Predators at no cost to the participant, making the program ideal for any family!

As the local NHL team, the Predators are dedicated to supporting the development of hockey at all levels. The Preds recognize the need for local skating facilities to be accessible for beginners to help grow the sport, starting at the younger ages.

The next four-week session will begin in April 2007 at Centennial Sportsplex. Online registration for the April session will open March 7th at 9:00 a.m. Space is limited. Please click here for more information.
