Preds sign forward Yanic Perreault

Nashville, Tenn. (October 3, 2005) - Nashville Predators Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has signed free-agent center Yanic Perreault (YAH-nihk puh-ROH). As per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Perreault, 34 (4/4/71), attended the Predators' 2005 training camp on a pro tryout agreement and finished the preseason with two goals and one assist (2g-1a-3pts) in four games. Entering his 12th NHL season, the 5-11, 185-pound Sherbrooke, Que. native has amassed 407 points (195g-212a) in 671 career games with Toronto, Los Angeles and Montreal.

In 2003-04 with Montreal, Perreault tallied 31 points (16g-15a) in 69 games and led the NHL in face-off winning percentage (65.2%) for the fifth consecutive season. He notched career-highs in games played (82), assists (29) and points (27g-29a-56pts) in 2001-02 with the Canadiens.

He was originally Toronto's first choice, 47th overall (third round), in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft.
