Preds Recall Sulzer from AHL

by Press Release / Nashville Predators
Nashville, Tenn. (February 3, 2010) – Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Alexander Sulzer from Milwaukee (AHL).

Sulzer, 25, has a pair of assists in 13 games for the Predators in 2009-10. Selected to Germany’s Olympic Team for the 2010 Games in Vancouver later this month, the 6-1, 204-pound blueliner also has 19 points (4g-15a) in 19 games at the AHL level this season, including six points (2g-4a) during a seven-game stint with the club from Jan. 23-Feb. 2.

Sulzer is expected to step into the lineup to fill the role played by fellow rookie defenseman Cody Franson, who was injured in last night's game vs. the Phoenix Coyotes. Franson is projected to miss around two weeks.

The Predators continue a four-game homestand tomorrow night at 7 p.m. when they host the Colorado Avalanche. Nashville rounds out the pre-Olympic Break portion of its home schedule on Saturday when it hosts the Western Conference-leading San Jose Sharks in a game that is expected to see 14 Olympians take the ice. Tickets to these games, and all other regular season contests, are now on sale and can be purchased by logging onto nashvillepredators.com.
