The Nashville Predators have recalled forward Patric Hornqvist on an emergency basis from the club's AHL affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals. Forward Wade Belak, who missed last night's game at Los Angeles with a lower body injury, has returned to Nashville for further evaluation.
Hornqvist, in his first pro season in North America, has split time between the NHL and AHL, scoring two goals and seven points in 20 games with the Predators and adding 17 goals and 35 points in 45 games with the Admirals. He just had a nine-game AHL scoring streak, highlighted by an eight-game goal scoring streak, snapped on Sunday night.
The 22-year old forward from Sollentuna, Sweden was a seventh round pick by the Predators in 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He scored 41 goals in 102 games the past two seasons in the Swedish Elite League and has represented Sweden in the past two World Championships tournaments, including a team-high six goals in last year's tournament.
