Predators prospect Colin Wilson
picked up Hockey East Player of the Week honors for his performance last weekend, while Jonathon Blum
and Chet Pickard
have led their respect teams into the CHL Mosaik MasterCard Top-10 Rankings.
Wilson, the seventh overall selection in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, recorded two goals and four points in one game last week, inclduing the game-winning score in Boston University's 6-4 come-from-behind win over UMass-Lowell. Wilson has five goals and 12 points through the first seven games of BU's season, helping the Terriers rise to the No. 1 spot in the US College Hockey polls.
In Canadian Junior hockey, Preds 2007 first round pick Jonathon Blum
has helped lead the Vancouver Giants to a 14-0-0-3 start to the season and the No. 3 ranking in the CHL Top-10, while goaltender Chet Pickard
, the 18th overall selection in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, has backstopped the Tri-City Americans to a 14-5-0-2 start, good for the No. 8 ranking.
Blum, who serves as Captain for Vancouver, has five goals and 19 points and a +19 plus/minus rating in his first 15 games played. He ranks among the WHL leaders in assists, plus/minus rating, and scoring by a defenseman. For his performance, Blum was named the WHL's Player of the Month for September/October.
Pickard, the reigning WHL Goaltender of the Year, has started 18 of Tri-City's first 21 games this season and ranks among the WHL leaders in wins.
