Preds Prospect Lajunen Named to Team Finland For World Junior Championships

Jani Lajunen, a seventh round pick by the Predators in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, was named to Team Finland for this year's World Junior Championships. Lajunen is the fourth Preds prospect participating in the tournament, joining 2007 First Round pick Jonathon Blum (USA) and 2008 First Round picks Chet Pickard (Canada) and Colin Wilson (USA).


The tournament runs from December 26 through January 5 in Ottawa, Ontario, with pre-tournament games on December 21 vs. Canada and December 23 vs. Kazakhstan.

Lajunen, 18, has one goal and two points in 22 games with Espoo in the Finnish Elite League. He has added seven goals and 13 points in 12 games with Espoo's Junior club.
