The NHL will be conducting it's annual draft lottery at 7 pm CT on Monday night (April 7). The 14 non-playoff teams are all entered into the lottery to determine the draft order for the first 14 selections in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Although the Predators have qualified for this year's playoffs, they also have a steak in the draft lottery. By virtue of last summer's trade with the Florida Panthers, the Predators own Florida's first and second round picks in this summer's NHL Entry Draft. The Panthers finished the season in 22nd place, placing them in ninth position in the draft order. Pending the results of the draft lottery, that placement can end up as low as fifth overall or as high as 10th overall. (click here for more on the draft lottery
The League, in cooperation with TSN, further announced that the results of the Draft Drawing will be televised live by TSN in Canada; VERSUS in the U.S.; and NHL Network in the U.S. and Canada. Furthermore, the results will be streamed live on NHL.com and TSN.ca and broadcast live on XM Satellite Radio.
The 30-minute, live program – titled “Scotiabank NHL Draft Lottery” – will begin at 8 p.m. ET and will originate from the NHL on TSN studios in Toronto. TSN’s James Duthie will host the program, with Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie and analyst Mike Milbury. Click here
