Outdoor skating is back in Music City.
The Nashville Predators held the official grand opening of the Smashville Outdoor Rink presented by Nissan on Monday afternoon across from Bridgestone Arena at Walk of Fame Park, to begin what is set to be a winter full of enjoyment in the shadow of the Nashville skyline.
After a successful first run last season in conjunction with the 2016 NHL All-Star Weekend festivities, the rink returns this year for an extended period of time, providing an outdoor experience like no other in the region.
"It's great to see the rink back here," said NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, who was on hand for the festivities. "The rink was such an important part of Winter Park, which was such an important part of the great All-Star Weekend in 2016. We're thrilled because if nothing else, this really shows that Nashville has become a hockey town."
The rink will be open every day from Nov. 18 through Mar. 1 - with the exception of Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day - from 4-10 p.m. (CT) Monday through Friday and 12-10 p.m. on weekends, with extended holiday hours throughout the season. Public skate sessions will be priced at $15 for adults and $10 for children, including skate rental.
Adult 3-on-3 pond hockey leagues will begin after the holidays and the Scott Hamilton Skating Academy will also hold Learn to Skate classes on the rink in the months to come.
