Preds First-Ever Draft Pick, Legwand, Retires

Forward is Franchise's All-Time Leader in Goals, Assists and Points

The Nashville Predators first-ever draft pick, David Legwand, announced his retirement from the NHL on Thursday.
Legwand was selected by Nashville in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft in the First Round (No. 2 overall) and is the franchise's all-time leader in goals (210), assists (356), points (566) and games played (956). The Detroit, Michigan, native spent parts of 15 seasons with the Predators from 1999 to 2014.
"Congratulations to Original Nashville Predator and the team's first-ever draft selection David Legwand on a 16-season NHL career and best of luck to you and your family in retirement," Preds General Manager David Poile said.
