Based on games played Saturday afternoon, it was determined that the Nashville Predators will open the 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs on home ice against the San Jose Sharks. (The dates and times of the playoff games will be determined and announced at a later date.) An overtime loss by the Sharks to Vancouver Saturday afternoon locked Nashville into the fourth seed and San Jose into the fifth seed in the Western Conference standings. The teams will meet in a rematch of last year's opening round series, won by San Jose in five games.
The Predators close out their regular season schedule with a game against the Colorado Avalanche Saturday night. While the game will have no bearing on the standings for the Predators, Nashville will be looking for a second straight win and some momentum as the team heads into the playoffs.
