BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, October 26, 2009 – Two defensemen captured the awards this week. Charles-Olivier Roussel
of the Shawinigan Cataractes and Yann Sauvé of the Saint John Sea Dogs today were named the TELUS offensive and defensive players of the week for the period extending from October 19 to 25.
Roussel, a second round pick by the Predators in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, tallied two goals and five assists while posting a +1 rating in four games. He ended up recording all seven of his points with the man-advantage by galvanizing a power-play which capitalized on 36% of its opportunities. After winning three of their last four games, the Cataractes have risen to the number three spot in the TELUS Central Division standings.
Marc-Olivier Vachon (Voltigeurs), Éric Faille (Titan) and Tomas Kubalik (Tigres) were also considered.
Earlier in the week, Roussel and fellow Preds '09 Draftee Gabriel Bourque
, were named to Team QMJHL
for the SUBWAY Super Series against Team Russia.
