Nashville, Tenn. (December 14, 2005) - Nashville Predators Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has recalled goaltender Pekka Rinne (PECK-ah REEN-ay) from the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.
Rinne, 23 (11/3/82), has posted a record of 10-6-1, a 2.15 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage with Milwaukee this season, the first campaign of his North American professional career. His goals-against average leads AHL rookie netminders and ranks third overall. The 6-5, 207-pound native of Kempele, Finland helped Karpat Oulu capture Finnish league championships in each of the last two seasons.
The Predators' roster stands at 22 with five players (Greg Johnson, David Legwand, Scott Nichol, Tomas Vokoun and Scott Walker) on injured reserve.
Nashville (18-7-3) hosts the Chicago Blackhawks (12-15-2) on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. at the Gaylord Entertainment Center. The game will be televised locally on FSN South and broadcast on 104.5-FM The Zone.
