Nashville, Tenn. (May 18, 2021) - Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the team has recalled forward Philip Tomasino from Chicago (AHL). He will report directly to Nashville to begin skating with the non-game group.

Tomasino, 19 (7/28/01), led the Wolves in goals (13) and plus-minus (+20), tied for the team lead in points (32) and was second in assists (19) during the 2020-21 campaign, his rookie professional season. He also ranked at or near the top in several categories among AHL first-year skaters, including plus-minus (first), points (third), assists (tied for third) and goals (sixth). Tomasino - whose 32 points tied for the 12th-most in the AHL - closed out his regular season with points in 15 of his last 17 games, a run that included two separate seven-game point streaks, with the second featuring 11 points (5g-6a) from April 26-May 15. The 6-foot, 183-pound forward posted nine multi-point performances, headlined by two three-point games on Feb. 9 vs. Rockford (2g-1a) and April 7 at Rockford (1g-2a).
The Mississauga, Ont., native began the season by competing for Canada in the 2021 World Junior Championship in Edmonton, where he earned a silver medal and tied for second on his team in goals with four. Tomasino's six points (4g-2a) were tied for sixth among Canadian skaters, and he was one of 24 players in the tournament to record at least six points.
Originally drafted by the Predators in the first round (24th overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft, he recorded 100 points (40g-60a) in 62 OHL games for Niagara and Oshawa in 2019-20, his third season in the league. He was fourth in the OHL in points, tied for fifth in assists and ninth in goals en route to hitting the 100-point mark for the first time. Tomasino was five points shy of tying David Legwand for the most points (105 in 1997-98) in a single OHL season by a Predators draft pick and was named a finalist for the OHL's Red Tilson Trophy, awarded to the league's most outstanding player. In addition to his appearance in the 2021 World Juniors, he also represented Canada at the 2019 U-18 World Championship, where he recorded five points (1g-4a) in six games.
