Predators Honor January Teacher of the Month

by Staff Writer / Nashville Predators

The Predators went to Barfield Elementary in Murfreesboro to surprise a special teacher for all he does for his school. Mr. Jason Simmons has been recognized as Predators Teacher of the Month for all Rutherford County. Mr. Simmons is in his fourth year at Barfield and enjoys every aspect of his job.

Barfield Elementary has a unique way of making their morning announcements. They broadcast them all around the school so that each classroom can see them on television. When the announcements concluded, Principal Goodwin said there was an unusual visitor today in school. At that point, GNASH jumped onto camera while Mr. Simmons was called to the office. Mr. Simmons received a shock when he found out that the GNASH and the Predators had come to see him. Mr. Simmons will be attending a Predators game in the near future in honor of his distinction. Congratulations, Mr. Simmons!

From Judy Goodwin, Principal Barfield Elementary School:
“Mr. Simmons is more than a music and choral director! He is our technology guru; he can do anything with tech devices. He constantly looks for ways to integrate level curriculum into his music instruction, Mr. Simmons always thinking ahead for our school programs. Whether it’s supporting an academically struggling student, helping our staff or setting up the PA system for a program without being asked, Mr. Simmons is always there!”
