Pickard Named to Team Canada For World Juniors

Preds prospect Chet Pickard was one of the two goaltenders selected to Team Canada for the 2008 World Junior Championships. A 2008 First Round pick, Pickard made the team after a solid showing at Hockey Canada's Selection Camp (Dec. 11 - 14).

Pickard joins Jonathon Blum (Team USA) and Colin Wilson (Team USA) to give the Predators three prospects at this year's World Junior Championships. The tournament starts Dec. 26 in Ottawa, Ontario, with pre-tournament exhibition games starting Dec. 19.

Team Canada will play pre-tounament games on Dec. 19 vs. Sweden, Dec. 21 vs. Finland, and Dec. 23 vs. Slovakia. Canada opens the tournament on Dec. 26 against Czech Republic.

Team USA will play pre-tournament games on Dec. 21 vs. Latvia and Dec. 23 vs. Russia. The U.S. opens the tournament on Dec. 26 vs. Germany.

Team USA and Team Canada are both in Group A for the Preliminary Round of the tournament and will meet in the Preliminary Round finale on Dec. 31. The Quarterfinals start on Jan. 2 with the Semifinals on Jan. 3 and the Championship Game on Jan. 5.
