Pickard Making Strong Statement at Hockey Canada World Juniors Camp

by Staff Writer / Nashville Predators
Preds prospect Chet Pickard, a 2008 First Round pick and the first goaltender selected in the '08 Entry Draft, has posted solid outings through the first two days of Hockey Canada's World Junior Championships Selection Camp.

In Friday night's scrimmage, the opening scrimmage of the camp, Pickard started in net for Team White and stopped seven of the eight shots he faced before giving way in the middle of the second period of Team White's 6-3 win.

Pickard followed that up with a perfect outing in relief for Team Red during Saturday night's scrimmage. Pickard entered midway through the second period and posted a shutout down the back half of the game to lead Team Red to a 7-2 win.

Hockey Canada will hold a third and final scrimmage on Sunday night and then announce its final roster for the 2008 World Championships at the conclusion of the Selection Camp.
