Rinne Among Seven Players and NHL Network Analyst Kevin Weekes to Showcase Clothes at June 20 Event
NEW YORK (June 19, 2012) – For the third straight year, American menswear designer John Varvatos will bring his runway looks to the 2012 NHL Awards™, the League’s annual celebration of hockey and the season’s top performances.
NHL Awards finalists Dustin Brown and Jonathan Quick of the Los Angeles Kings, Brian Elliott of the St. Louis Blues, Erik Karlsson of the Ottawa Senators, Gabriel Landeskog of the Colorado Avalanche and Pekka Rinne of the Nashville Predators as well as EA Sports NHL® 13 Cover Athlete finalist Claude Giroux of the Philadelphia Flyers and NHL Network™ analyst Kevin Weekes will showcase tailored suits, shirts, belts and shoes from John Varvatos’ latest collections during the live broadcast of the event from the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas (7:00 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network in the U.S. and online at cbcsports.ca in Canada; CBC-TV will carry the complete two-hour celebration nationally starting at 8:00 p.m. local / 8:30 p.m. NT). Weekes and the players will unveil their wears during NHL Network’s exclusive live broadcast of the red carpet arrivals starting at 5:00 p.m. ET.
This marks the third straight year John Varvatos has showcased its new collections at the NHL Awards. Born and raised in Detroit, Mich., Varvatos is a longtime hockey fan with a special fondness for his hometown Red Wings. He recently completed the first season of the NBC hit reality competition series, “Fashion Star.”
The 2012 NHL Awards will honor the best regular-season players in a wide range of categories, including most valuable player (Hart Trophy), outstanding goaltender (Vezina Trophy), outstanding defenseman (Norris Trophy) and outstanding rookie (Calder Trophy). The winner of the EA SPORTS NHL® 13 Cover Athlete, presented by BlackBerry, also will be unveiled at the event.
Sirius XM Satellite Radio will provide radio coverage, NHL Network™ and NHL.com will provide extensive coverage of the festivities and NHL Network will host exclusive live coverage of the 2012 NHL Awards Red Carpet show prior to the event.
The 2012 NHL Awards return to Las Vegas as part of a new, three-year partnership with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA). IMG Media, the production arm of the global sports, entertainment and media company IMG, will produce the 2012 NHL Awards under the helm of executive producer Steve Mayer.
