This week we asked for Nashville Predators fans to submit their questions for Preds goaltender Pekka Rinne. After hundreds of responses, here are the top questions that we quized the netminder with:
1. What music on your iPod would your teammates give you the most grief over?
— Jay from Mt. Juliet
Rinne: “I have a lot of embarrassing music, but I don’t want to [reveal] that. (Laugh) I have mostly Finnish music, but I really like the Black Keys and Kings of Leon and other artists along those lines.”
2. What has been your favorite game so far in your career? — Ashley from Memphis
Rinne: “So far I think the championship I won with Team Finland in 2004 was my most memorable game. Winning that game was the funnest one so far, and I think it’s one I won’t ever forget. It’s very special to [win] a big game for your country, it’s almost hard to describe.”
3. Why did you pick your jersey number? — Brett from Burlington
Rinne: “Back home in Finland, I used to be No. 33 and when I came over the number I have now is just kind of the one I was given. When I was in Milwaukee, I had the [No.] 35 right away. My first training camp, if I remember right, [Predators Head Equipment Manager] Pete Rogers gave me that number and I liked it, so I ran with it. Honestly that number doesn’t really have any special meaning to it...That’s kind of a boring story.”
4. What do you do with your old hockey masks? — Robert from Clarksville
Rinne: “I try to keep all of my masks. In fact, I give them to my dad. He collects them.”
5. What is your favorite pregame meal? — Krista from Smyrna
Rinne: “It’s pretty much the same thing every time. Chicken Parmesan with some pasta and probably a salad too.”
Check back soon for the next "Ask A Pred." We'll have more throughout the season!
