The Predators' Get Out And Learn! (G.O.A.L!) free youth hockey program, presented by Delta Dental of Tennessee, continues for the 2007-2008 season.  G.O.A.L! wrapped up its second session this month at Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville.  Just this season, already more than 100 new hockey players have graduated Predators' G.O.A.L! program, learning the basics of skating and ice hockey, bringing participation total to approximately 300 kids since inception last year.

The most recent participants were treated to guest appearances featuring Predators forward Jed Ortmeyer and team mascot GNASH.  While the focus was on skill development, Preds Amateur & Youth Hockey staff, Nashville Youth Hockey League instructors along with Pope John Paul II Knights and Hendersonville High School hockey teams coached the kids utilizing cross-ice stations working in small groups in a fun, rewarding atmosphere.
GNASH entertains G.O.A.L! participants and a recent clinic at Centennial Sportsplex.

G.O.A.L! offers youngsters the opportunity to experience the excitement of hockey without the cost of purchasing equipment.  Designed for boys and girls ages 4 to 9 with no prior experience, this free four-week ice hockey program introduces the exciting sport of hockey while teaching life experiences of teamwork, sportsmanship and self-confidence. Full equipment, including skate rental, is provided by the Predators at no cost to the participant, making the program ideal for any family!

As the local NHL team, the Predators are dedicated to supporting the development of hockey at all levels. The Preds recognize the need for local skating facilities to be accessible for beginners to help grow the sport, starting at the younger ages.

The next four-week session will be held in November/December 2007 at Southern Ice Arena on Wednesday evenings.  Online registration for this session will begin November 12th at 9:00 a.m. Space is limited.  Please click here (www.nashvillepredators.com/goal) for more information.
