Nashville, Tenn. – Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has signed defenseman Garrett Noonan to a two-year entry-level contract.
Noonan, 23 (1/28/91), spent the past four seasons at Boston University, amassing 81 points (30g-51a) and 271 penalty minutes in 145 games. On Saturday, the Norfolk, Mass., native was named the Terriers’ most valuable player for the 2013-14 season; he served as team captain and tied for ninth among Hockey East defensemen in points (4g-16a-20pts) as a senior, his third consecutive season ranking among the conference’s Top 10 blueliners in the category. The 6-1, 205-pounder also tied for first in the nation among defensemen in goals (16) and power-play goals (8) during his sophomore season at BU in 2011-12, en route to Second-Team Hockey East All-Star honors.
Nashville’s fourth choice, 112th overall (fourth round), in the 2011 Entry Draft, Noonan helped the Vernon Vipers capture the 2010 RBC Cup, Doyle Cup and Fred Page Cup in his lone junior season. He is on Twitter @GarrettNoonan13.
