Predators Rookie Camp Opens Thursday, Sept. 6

Nashville, Tenn. (August 22, 2018) - Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced Wednesday that the team's prospects will report to Nashville on Thursday, Sept. 6, before heading to Estero, Fla., the following day for the 2018 NHL Prospects Showcase against the Washington Capitals and Tampa Bay Lightning from Sept. 8-11 at Germain Arena.
The Predators team, which will be comprised of signed and unsigned draft picks and free-agent signings, will be coached by Milwaukee Admirals (Nashville's AHL affiliate) Head Coach Karl Taylor and Assistant Coaches Scott Ford and Greg Rallo. Among the 22 players scheduled to participate are 2017 first-round draft pick Eeli Tolvanen (30th overall), 2017-18 Admirals leading-scorer Emil Pettersson and 2018 draft selection Vladislav Yeryomenko (151st overall). Also taking part in the showcase will be multiple 2018 free-agent signings, including forwards Tanner Jeannot, Carl Persson, Zach Magwood and Colin Blackwell, defenseman Filip Pyrochta and goaltenders Niclas Westerholm and Miroslav Svoboda.
This marks the ninth time in the last 10 rookie camps that Predators prospects will play games against another Sunbelt franchise, and the fifth time in the last six camps that a team of rookies will compete in a tournament. Last season, Nashville hosted the Tampa Bay Lighting's prospects in a three-game series at Ford Ice Center after the scheduled tournament at Germain Arena was canceled due to Hurricane Irma. Through proceeds raised from the three-game event and the auction of a Pekka Rinne game-used mask from the Nashville's 2017-18 home opener, the Nashville Predators Foundation donated $25,000 to hurricane relief efforts. Predators prospects - along with those from Florida, Tampa Bay and Boston - helped open Ford Ice Center with a rookie tournament in September of 2014, and those same four teams competed against each other in Sunrise, Fla., in 2013. Nashville prospects have also played two-game sets against Florida (2011 and 2010), Atlanta (2008 and 2009) and Columbus (2002 and 2003). In the franchise's first four seasons (1998-2001), Predators prospects competed in the Traverse City Rookie Tournament.

The NHL Prospects Showcase precedes the opening of Nashville's 2018 Training Camp, which begins Sept. 13 with physicals and team meetings. The Predators' first day on the ice will be Friday, Sept. 14, at Centennial Sportsplex, with six preseason contests scheduled from Sept. 17-30, including two at Bridgestone Arena (
Sept. 21 vs. Tampa Bay and Sept. 25 vs. Carolina
).
