Nino Niederreiter scored his team-leading ninth goal of the season, but the Nashville Predators fell to the Tampa Bay Lightning, 3-2, in overtime Saturday at Bridgestone Arena.
Niederreiter's goal gave Nashville a 2-1 lead, but Tampa Bay's Alex Killorn tied the game 2-2 at 16:39 of the third period to send the game to overtime. Lightning captain Steven Stamkos scored in overtime on a slap shot from the high slot following a high-sticking penalty on Mattias Ekholm.

THREE TAKEAWAYS

Fil the Thrill
The Preds got off to a strong start once again with a Filip Forsberg power-play goal. Ekholm's pass set him up for a slap shot from the top of the left face-off circle to give Nashville a 1-0 lead at 2:09 of the first period.

Forsberg (484) passed Martin Erat (481) and moved into sole possession of third place on the Predators' all-time points list on Nov. 8 at Seattle. After tallying a goal against Tampa Bay, he leads Nashville in points with 18 (7g-11a) and has four multi-point outings in his last 11 games.
The Kid's (Still) Alright
With the secondary assist on Forsberg's power-play goal, Predators rookie Juuso Parssinen now has five points (3g-2a) in his first four NHL games. He also currently ranks first among all NHL rookies in points per game (1.25).
Parssinen, 21, made his NHL debut on Nov. 12 against the New York Rangers, scored his first career NHL goal on his first shot and racked up three points (2g-1a) on Thursday against the New York Islanders.
Did Juuse That?
Juuse Saros made 36 saves in net for the Predators, including a number of high danger saves. Some of these you simply have to see to believe:

THEY SAID IT

Forsberg on Nashville's overall effort:
"It was good for 60 minutes, and it was two good teams going at it. I thought it was probably our most consistent effort we've had in a while. Obviously it was against one of the top teams in the league and the third period maybe a little too passive again, just letting them just kind of come in waves. And I think that's the biggest thing. Everything else was solid."
Forsberg on Parssinen:
"He looks like an NHL player. It looks like he's been doing this for 10 years. One of those like I said before, one of those classic Finnish, responsible two way centers and yeah, you hate playing against when you are Swedish, but it's awesome to always have on your team. So he's been great."
Forsberg on the Nashville's play during the homestand:
"I think it's better I think like I said the previous three kind have been hanging on in the second half of the game even last game. I thought we were really good for the first half and then kind of just hanging on by a thread and Juuse kept us in that one the other night against the Islanders. Like I said, even though we didn't win this is probably our best effort out of these home games and look forward to build on that for more."
Head Coach John Hynes on Nashville's overall effort:
"I thought it was a pretty consistent game. It's what we talked with our group about - putting together a game that's consistent period to period for the most part. That was a really good team. I thought that they generated some looks and they're going to do that because they're talented but overall I thought we played pretty well. I thought Juice was good in net and that we generated some really good, quality chances but their guy played well in net too. So, it was a hard-fought battle and unfortunately in overtime we had the penalty and they wound up scoring a pretty good goal there."
