From Sunday, July 26 to Saturday, Aug. 1, Preds pup Smash and Coyotes' team dog Luna will face off in a friendly competition to benefit local animal shelters and rescues in Tennessee and Arizona respectively. The Predators' virtual Pet Supply Drive wish list can be accessed on

"Since the pause of the NHL season, our incredible fans have stood by us as we all eagerly awaited hockey's return to play," Nashville Predators President & CEO Sean Henry said. "Although shortly our teams will be competing on the ice in pursuit of the Stanley Cup, we are thrilled to partner with the Arizona Coyotes organization on the Pet Supply Drive and Blood Drive. During such a difficult time for many, we look forward to coming together and channeling the passion of our fans in a way that will improve each of our communities."
In addition to the virtual Pet Supply Drive, because of the severe blood shortage resulting from coronavirus-related drive cancellations, Nashville and Arizona will also host a joint Blood Drive from Tuesday, Aug. 4 to Friday, Aug. 7. Over those four days, the Predators Foundation and American Red Cross have planned 29 drives in 20 cities throughout Tennessee, Kentucky and Alabama.
Presenting donors who make an appointment online will receive a Preds t-shirt and be entered in a drawing for a $100 Nashville Locker Room gift card (one winner per location). The American Red Cross will test all blood, platelet and plasma donations for COVID-19 antibodies as an additional health screening service to donors.
