Two Team Back at it Saturday night in Chicago

Milwaukee, WI—The Milwaukee Admirals surrendered three power play goals, all in the third period, and dropped a 5-1 decision to the Chicago Wolves in their first pre-season game at Wilson Park Ice Arena in Milwaukee.

The two teams will finish off their home-and-home exhibition slate with a 7:00 pm game tomorrow night at the Hoffman Estates Community Center and Ice Arena in Hoffman Estates, IL. The rivals will then face-off to begin the regular season on Saturday, October 3 at 7:00 pm at the All-State Arena in Chicago.

The Wolves got the first goal of the game on a Riley Holzapfel goal at 18:37 of the first period. Holzapfel walked the puck in from the right wall and fired a wrister from the face-off dot that beat Milwaukee netminder Chet Pickard high, stick side at 18:37.

Kevin Doell made it 2-0 Wolves at four minutes of the second when he carried the puck into the high slot and took a shot through traffic that found its way past a screened Pickard.

Ian McKenzie got the Admirals got on the board with one second remaining on a five-on-three power-play to cut the Wolves’ lead to 2-1 at 4:27 of the third. Reid Cashman carried the puck in the Chicago zone and dumped it off to Mark Santorelli, who found McKenzie as he wrapped around the net and slid the puck past Chicago goaltender Peter Mannino.

However, that was as close as the Admirals would get as Chicago scored power-play tallies at 6:45 (Doell), 10:16 (Kozek), and 16:05 (Pohl) of the third to come away with the win.

Peter Mannino picked up the win for Chicago on the night, while Chet Pickard suffered the loss for the Admirals.
