Jonathon Blum to Join Milwaukee

Nashville Predators 2007 First Round pick defenseman Jonathon Blum will join the Milwaukee Admirals for the remainder of the team's 2009 AHL Playoff run. He is expected to join the Admirals in time for Saturday's Game 2 of the Division Finals series against Houston.

Blum, the 23rd overall selection in the '07 NHL Entry Draft, was named the WHL Defenseman of the Year this season after recording 16 goals and 66 points and a +53 plus/minus rating in 51 games with the Vancouver Giants this season. Blum also posted two goals and four points in six games with Team USA at the World Junior Championships and added seven goals and 18 points in 17 WHL playoff games.

The 6-foot-1, 170 pound defenseman served as team captain for both Vancouver and the US World Junior Championship teams this season.

Blum finished his junior career as the Vancouver Giants’ (WHL) all-time leader in defensive scoring, in addition to ranking third overall on the franchise’s scoring list with 204 points (49g-155a) in 248 regular season games and 42 points (14g-28a) in 67 postseason contests from 2005-09. Nashville’s first choice (23rd overall) in the 2007 Entry Draft captained the Giants to their best season in club history in 2008-09 and was named a 2009 First-Team WHL Western Conference All-Star.
