SECHC History
The Southeastern Collegiate Hockey Conference (SECHC) is in its second season as a representative body of 11 teams participating in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). The 11 teams are club ice hockey programs at the universities that make up the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in NCAA athletics (with the exception of Auburn, who does not currently have a program).

This season, the SECHC grows to 11 members as Mississippi joins the conference in their first season of ACHA hockey.

Of the 11 teams, 10 currently play in the South region of ACHA Division III. Kentucky is the exception, as they are currently in the Southeast division of ACHA Division II. Because Kentucky is a Division II program, they play very few of the other SECHC teams and do not currently participate in the SECHC Tournament at the end of the season. Kentucky does currently maintain a home-and-home rivalry series with Tennessee at the end of every season.

The other 10 teams (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt) all play eachother frequently throughout the season. However, unlike the SEC, the teams in the SECHC are not bound by the divisions East and West. The Teams play whoever they reach agreements with for the season.
Last season, eight teams participated in the SECHC Tournament, hosted by the Alabama program in Pelham, Ala. The teams were seeded by their rankings within the South region of ACHA Division III. Tennessee and Georgia met in the first championship game, with Tennessee taking home the trophy.
