On Day 6 of the World Championships, Patric Hornqvist scored his fourth goal of the tournament for Team Sweden, while the three Preds prospects on Team Finland helped the Fins to a first place showing in Group C.

Hornqvist scored a shorthanded goal late in the third period of Sweden's 4-2 loss to Switzerland. Hornqvist's goal cut the Sweden deficit to one goal, 3-2, with 59 seconds remaining in regulation. Switzerland added an empty net goal at the 19:53 mark of the third period to seal the win. Sweden finished the Preliminary Round with a 2-1 record, second in Group A heading into the Qualifying Round against crossover opponents from Group D -- Czech Republic, Denmark, and Russia.

Team Finland raced out to a 2-0 lead 13:00 into the game before Slovakia tied the score prior to the first intermission.
