Hamhuis Scores in Canada's 5-1 Win

The 2008 World Championships opened play on Friday with four games. Three Predators players participated in Friday's action, Martin Erat and Marek Zidlicky with Czech Republic and Dan Hamhuis with Canada. Alexander Radulov did not skate in Russia's tournament opener.

Martin Erat and Marek Zidlicky both skated in Czech Republic's 5-2 win over Denmark, but did not get on the score sheet.

Dan Hamhuis scored the game's opening goal in Team Canada's 5-1 win over Slovenia. Hamhuis scored 3:45 into the game, the lone goal in the first period. Dany Heatley and Martin St. Louis scored in the first half of the second period to extend the Canadian lead to 3-0 before Slovenia scored.

Tim Thomas stopped all 24 shots as Team USA opened its tournament with a 4-0 win over Latvia. Patrick Kane had a goal and two assists to lead the US offense.
