Gameday: Panthers vs. Preds

by Nashville Predators / Nashville Predators

The Nashville Predators host the Florida Panthers today in a preseason split-squad doubleheader. The first game begins at 3 p.m., while the second contest commences at 7 p.m.

Forward Derek Roy makes his debut in Predators Gold in the first contest, likely skating alongside Colin Wilson and Craig Smith. Florida goaltender Sam Brittain, who was named to the All-Rookie Team at the recent Predators Rookie Tournament at Ford Ice Center, will appear in net for the Panthers for the 3 p.m. game. Former Preds D-men Shane O'Brien and Greg Zanon will make their return to the Music City, playing in the first and second contests, respectively.

In the evening contest, netminders Pekka Rinne and Roberto Luongo will go head-to-head. The pair also faced off against each other in the Predators and Vancouver Canucks 2011 Western Conference Semifinal series. In his last time out, Rinne stopped all 12 shots he faced in 32 minutes against the Tampa Bay Lighting on Thursday.

Winger Filip Forsberg will attempt to push his goal-scoring streak to three-straight games when he skates on Nashville's top line in the 7 p.m. game.
