The Nashville Predators will skate in their second road game of the season tonight against the Chicago Blackhawks.
The fourth-consecutive game versus a Western Conference opponent and second in two days, Nashville will attempt to add to a recent stretch of good fortune against Chicago. In the 2013-14 campaign, the Preds went 4-1-0 against their Central Division rival and registered seven goals in two different games.
Chicago’s lineup will be bolstered by defenseman Michael Rozsival on Saturday, as the blueliner returns from injury and suits up for his first action of the season.
In an interesting coincidence, the most recent loss for both the Hawks and Preds comes by way of a Calgary Flames triumph in extra time. Chicago fell to the Calgary 2-1 in overtime on Wednesday, while Nashville was stopped by the Flames in a shootout on Tuesday (the Preds only loss of the season).
On Friday, Nashville defeated the Winnipeg Jets 2-0 thanks to the first shutout of the season for Preds goaltender Pekka Rinne. The Finnish netminder notched 31 saves and Mike Ribeiro registered the game-winner in Nashville’s first away contest of the young campaign.
New Preds winger James Neal has 12 points (seven goals) in 14 career games against the Blackhawks. The 27-year-old scored his first goal in Preds Gold against the Jets yesterday.
