Game Day: Avalanche vs. Preds

A three-game divisional tour concludes tonight for the Nashville Predators as they host the Colorado Avalanche at Bridgestone Arena. It's the first of four meetings between the Central Division foes scheduled for this season.
Nashville enters tonight's game with a 2-2-1 record through their first five outings, and although the most recent contest was a 2-1 overtime loss to Chicago on Saturday night, the Preds say it was their best overall effort of the season with each subsequent game better than the last.
"Just from a speed standpoint, being ready to play, being competitive, fast legs, fast mind, that's the game you have to play right now," Nashville Head Coach Peter Laviolette said. "I thought Saturday night] was our best execution of delivering that."

Last Time Out:
Filip Forsberg scored the lone Nashville tally in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Blackhawks. The goal was Forsberg's fifth of the season and fourth with the man advantage. Scott Hartnell and P.K. Subban assisted on the Forsberg marker, while goaltender Pekka Rinne stopped 33 shots on the evening.

The Opposition:
Colorado dropped their most recent outing, a 3-1 decision in Dallas on Saturday night, but have jumped out to a 4-2-0 start, including a three-game win streak prior to last weekend. Matt Duchene and Sven Andrighetto co-lead the team in scoring with identical stat lines (3g-3a-6pts). Nail Yakupov has also scored on three occasions for the Avalanche and Semyon Varlamov is 3-1-0 in net.
All-Time Meetings:
The Predators are 38-28-5-3 all-time against the Avalanche and have won the last six games versus Colorado, outscoring the Avs 25-14 during that span, and swept the 2016-17 season series, 5-0. Nashville has found the back of the net four or more times in six of the last eight meetings with Colorado, while Ryan Johansen (2g-8a) and Roman Josi (3g-5a) are on a six-game point streak against the Avalanche.

Scoresberg:
Filip Forsberg scored for the third-straight game on Saturday, matching the third-longest streak of his career. He scored his fourth power-play goal of the season and is now tied for first in the NHL in the category while his five power-play points (4g-1a) trails only Washington's Nicklas Backstrom, who has six. The Swedish forward leads the Preds in goals (5) and points (7) and is second in shots (15).
