Leading their team in total time on ice, Preds defensemen Dan Hamhuis (21:38) and Shea Weber (21:22) helped Canada secure a 6-1 victory over Belarus earlier this afternoon - each registering 2 shots and a plus-2 rating.

The game-winning goal was scored at 14:29 of the first period by Steve Stamkos, who finished the game with two goals and a plus-1 rating.  Dany Heatley - who serves as an assistant captain alongside Shea Weber - also had a big game, scoring 3 points (2g-1a), registering 6 shots on goal and a plus-3 rating.

In today's other action, Alexander Radulov recorded an assist in Russia's 5-0 drubbing of Germany. Five different players scored for Russia and Ilya Bryzgalov made 20 saves in his first career IIHF World Championship shutout.

Roman Josi, Nashville's second pick in the 2008 Entry Draft, and Team Switzerland beat France 1-0 in their opening game of the World Championships in Bern this afternoon. Martin Plüss scored the game's lone goal.
