A pair of Preds will be in San Jose, California, for 2019 NHL All-Star Weekend - and now, that duo could turn into a trio.
The NHL has introduced an all-new Last Men In Vote, presented by adidas, which will give fans the opportunity to select Preds forward Filip Forsberg to join his teammates at the event in California later this month. Voting for the Last Men In Competition is scheduled to begin Jan. 3 at 11 a.m. CT and will close on Jan. 10 at 10:59 p.m. CT.
Each NHL team has one representative in the competition, and the highest vote-getters by division then will be added to their respective All-Star rosters.
Fans will be permitted to select as few as one player and a maximum of four players per ballot. The maximum number of ballots cast per 24-hour period for each fan is 10.
Fans may cast their votes for Forsberg by visiting NHL.com/vote.
Predators Captain Roman Josi and goaltender Pekka Rinne have already been named 2019 NHL All-Stars by the League, giving the Predators a guarantee of two participants in the mid-season event set for Jan. 25-26 in San Jose, California.
And, as if you needed further evidence as to why Forsberg, who is close to returning from an upper-body injury, deserves your support, here are a few items to consider.
Despite missing the past 15 games due to injury, Forsberg continues to lead the Predators in goals with 14. He is producing .85 points per game, higher than his career mark of .76, and from the start of the season to the time of his injury, he was tied for 13th in goals-per-game among players with at least 20 games played.
Without Forsberg in lineup, the Predators have gone 7-7-1, but with No. 9 dressed, his club owns a 17-8-1 mark.
The selections are certainly worthy for the netminder and the blueliner, as is the consideration for the winger. So, get ready to cheer on Rinne and Josi in San Jose - and make sure Forsberg joins them, too.
