It's a golden moment for the Nashville Swedes.
Filip Forsberg scored the winner in the shootout as Sweden defeated Switzerland by a 3-2 final in the Gold Medal Game at the 2018 IIHF World Championship. As a result, Forsberg, Viktor Arvidsson and Mattias Ekholm collect their first World Championship gold medals of their careers, while Roman Josi and Kevin Fiala earn silver medals, the second time Josi has taken home silver.

Following the contest, Forsberg was named Sweden's best player of the game, while Josi earned the honor for Switzerland.

Earlier in the day, Nick Bonino scored the game-winner as Team USA defeated Kyle Turris and Canada, 4-1, to capture the bronze medal at the World Championship. It's the second time Bonino has earned bronze with the United States at the tournament. Turris assisted on Canada's lone goal in the loss.

With the World Championship now complete, the Nashville organization will now turn their attention to mid-June in preparation for the NHL Awards and the NHL Draft. Goaltender Pekka Rinne is nominated for the Vezina Trophy as the League's top goaltender, while P.K. Subban is up for the Norris Trophy as the NHL's best defenseman and the King Clancy Memorial Trophy for his humanitarian contributions.
The NHL Awards take place on June 20 in Las Vegas before the NHL Draft comes on June 22-23 in Dallas.
