Five Predators Players Among Top Vote Getters in All-Star Fan Vote

by Alexis Tahara / Nashville Predators

Every Tuesday since the All-Star Fan Vote presented by SiriusXM began, the National Hockey League has released the top vote getters in each position category; the Top 10 goaltenders, the Top 30 defensemen and the Top 40 forwards. According to the NHL, more than 14 million votes from 182 countries have been cast to date, with less than one month until Jan. 1, 2015, the final day of the 2015 NHL All-Star Fan Vote.

The five players (one goalie, three forwards, two defensemen) selected by fans will earn spots in the 2015 Honda NHL All-Star Game on Jan. 25 in Columbus, Ohio, with the final rosters being determined by the NHL. With three weeks of voting in the rear-view mirror, there are currently five Nashville Predators players among the top spots in their respective positions.

Pekka Rinne, who ranks fifth among goalies, is the highest-ranked Predators player, while Shea Weber, who has received 171,415 votes, is the Nashville player who has received the most votes.

In all three positional categories, the Preds’ Filip Forsberg is the only rookie to have his name appear on the list. Forsberg, who ranks 30th among forwards, sits just one place behind teammate James Neal.

Bern, Switzerland, native Roman Josi is less than 6,200 votes away from surpassing countryman Jonas Hiller for the most votes for a Switzerland native on the roster. Hiller, a goaltender with the Calgary Flames, and Josi were teammates on the Swiss men’s Olympic hockey team in 2014.
