Fan Shootout with Joel Ward

by Staff Writer / Nashville Predators caught up with Preds forward Joel Ward to ask him your questions -- questions submitted by you fans. Check below for his answers.

What was most surprising thing about Nashville upon coming here last year?
Submitted by: Tara Mielnik in Old Hickory, Tenn.
The food. I thought overall there is a pretty good selection of restaurants here which I had no idea about. I didn’t know it was much of an eatery so to speak, I just heard it was a music city. I like sushi so I have been going to Virago and Sambuca; I also like Cantina Laredo.

How difficult is it mentally and physically to play every other day or say, four times in seven days?
Submitted by Kent Sapp in Cumming, Ga.
It’s pretty difficult, especially this year. For me it’s been a lot, especially having a fair bit of ice time too, so it’s pretty tough to juggle. I would say for myself it is a big adjustment. You start to get tired and have to try to maintain and just try to get as much rest during the day.

What do you consider your personal, "Welcome to the NHL" moment?
Submitted by: CJ Schipani in Franklin, Tenn.
I would say rookie dinner, paying for rookie dinner. It is a pretty big thing, a pretty big bill you have to suck up.

Who is your favorite opponent to play against?
Submitted by: Courtney Gray in Nashville, Tenn.
I don’t know if I have a favorite person to play against but I would say the toughest is Detroit’s Pavel Datsyuk. I would say playing against New Jersey goaltender Martin Brodeur is pretty cool being that he is a Hall-of-Fame goalie. There isn’t necessarily a team I like to play against the most, but last year I got the chance to play in Toronto so that was cool since it is my hometown team.

What was the toughest challenge in the NHL?
Submitted by: John Mark Masters in Richmond, Ky.
Playing at a consistent each game at this level. You have to bring it every day, and to bring your “A” game every day is tough.

Who do you think who is the funniest guy in your team?
Submitted by: Heidi Lehto in Pori, Finland
Wade Belak is pretty funny; he has a pretty good sense of humor. Smitty (Jerred Smithson) is pretty funny too, but he has a dry sense of humor. He has some one-liners that are pretty funny. But I think Belak overall is a goofy character, he’s a pretty funny dude.
