Nashville, Tenn. (September 3, 2009) - Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin will host the 12th Annual First Tennessee Dr. Mac Memorial Golf Tournament to benefit the Nashville Predators Foundation on Wednesday, September 9, 2009. Predators players, coaches and executives will be stationed throughout the course, interacting with all participants and providing a fifth shot to all teams. In 2004, the tournament’s name was changed in honor of the late Dr. James McPherson, who served as the Predators’ dentist from 1998-2004. The 2008 tournament raised more than $40,000 for the Nashville Predators Foundation.
The day starts with lunch provided by Whole Foods Market at 11:30 a.m. Tournament play, which is a scramble format, will begin with a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. and will conclude with an awards ceremony. There will be prizes for the winning team, the longest drive and closest shot to the pin. The day will also include hole-in-one contests and a putting contest at the practice green. Last year’s first prize was a road trip with the Predators.
All funds raised from the tournament will benefit the Nashville Predators Foundation. The Nashville Predators Foundation strives to meet the educational, social, health and cultural needs of the community by offering unique resources and financial support to local youth-oriented organizations. The Foundation has awarded more than $2 million since its establishment in 1998.
