Grimson-web

Athlete. Attorney. Analyst. Author. Animated.
All these characteristics describe Stu "The Grim Reaper" Grimson and the many different aspects of his life, and on Episode 180 of the Predators Official Podcast, the former Nashville Predators player and broadcaster spoke about each in depth.

The newest of the bunch - animated - was something that Grimson didn't expect at all.
"The Simpsons creative team reached out to the NHL Network," he said. "They said, 'We'd really like Stu to be involved in an upcoming episode.'"
In the episode, Bart Simpson, constantly being beaten down by opposing players, is having trouble being the best hockey player he can be. To fix the problem, Bart and his teammates head to 'Top Goon Academy,' where Grimson - known throughout his career as an on-ice enforcer - is working as an instructor.
Joining Grimson in "The Simpsons" episode are famous NHL enforcers Dave 'The Hammer' Schultz and Dave 'Tiger' Williams.
"Ultimately, it's good for the game," he said. "It gives us exposure to maybe a different audience and everybody seems to be bent on having a whole lot of fun with it."
This is not Grimson's first time doing voiceover work. After authoring his autobiography, "The Grim Reaper: The Life and Career of a Reluctant Warrior," Grimson got behind the mic for the audiobook version.
Grimson has some experience behind the mic as well, and after hanging up his skates in 2002, returned to Smashville for the 2016-17 season as a color analyst on Fox Sports Tennessee.
While Stu is no longer a broadcaster for the Predators, he still works in the role for the NHL Network. However, the Preds are never far from his heart.
"I cover all the teams now in my role at NHL Network," he said. "However], because the Preds are right here in my backyard, I pay special attention to them and I think there's a lot to be excited about with this team based on what they did last year."
The former winger is grateful to have been able to stay in the world of hockey even after his retirement.
"It's not like I started out in life that I'm going to try my hand at all these things and reinvent myself several times before I leave the planet," he said. "But it's been a whole lot of fun. I've never envisioned a lot of it."
