Roman Josi and Mikael Granlund each tallied a goal and an assist in regulation to help lead the Nashville Predators to a 4-3 shootout win over the Arizona Coyotes Monday at Bridgestone Arena. Juuse Saros made 24 saves for the Predators, and Cody Glass scored the game-winning goal in the seventh round of the shootout.
Monday's victory marked General Manager/President of Hockey Operations David Poile's 1500th career regular-season win. The Predators have now earned a point in five straight games (4-0-1).

THREE TAKEAWAYS

The Predators had three power play opportunities in the first seven minutes of play, drawing a trio of penalties nearly 2:30 apart. Ingy Returns
Coyotes goaltender Connor Ingram was claimed on waivers from Nashville on Oct. 10. He made his first three career NHL starts with the Predators and started three of Nashville's four postseason games against the Colorado Avalanche in 2022. Prior to being placed on waivers, Ingram served as Nashville's third-string goaltender for the 2022 NHL Global Series in Prague, Czech Republic.
Ingram suited up for the Coyotes Monday in what would be his first regular-season NHL start - and first shootout - at Bridgestone Arena and made a career-high 43 saves. Coming into Monday's game, he was 1-4 in five starts for Arizona.
15K For GMDP
With Poile reaching the 1500-win milestone, Head Coach John Hynes had plenty of adulatory words as he reflected on his time working alongside the Predators GM.
"1500 games - I mean, that's unbelievable," Hynes said. "I can tell you firsthand, just from having to work with David day to day, the experience he has and the success he's had, his energy level every day, his attention to detail, his willingness to communicate. He loves the game, loves everything about his job, loves the Predators and to have an opportunity to work with him side by side has been really, really impressive. With not only his accomplishments, but for how long he's been in the game, all that he's accomplished, I think his humility, his work ethic and his passion to do the job every day is remarkable."

THEY SAID IT

Matt Duchene on Nashville's performance over the homestand:
"We locked in and did some good thingsā€¦ Our game is ascending here. It's getting better and we've had to shake some things up here and there with our line combos, D-combos, power play. We got our big unit back tonight and we took care of business, which was great. Could have won it in overtime as well, but I think it's a step in the right direction. We've just got to keep building and can't get comfortable with what we're doing. We've just got to stay hungry and keep growing."
Duchene on his go-ahead goal in the third period:
"I think our line was a little stale the last two games. We were struggling to hold on to pucks and create offensive chances. So, obviously we had a little shake up and sometimes it works. First shift in, I mean, it's kind of crazy. That will happen sometimes, and it was a heck of a pass by [Colton Sissons]."
Duchene on Saros' performance in the shootout:
"That was big. I know with Juice it's usually maybe one goal against, so they did a good job breaking him down, because he's the best shootout, breakaway goalie I've ever seen. But he did a great job sticking with it and taking one shot at a time and our shooters did a great job too. I haven't seen too many extra inning shootouts in a while, so we did a good job and sometimes you've got to win the high-scoring ones."
Hynes on Nashville's overall effort:
"I thought there were some good things. In the third period where we had an opportunity to really take advantage of it, we didn't do it. So I think that's something that will be addressed, but I liked how we came out in the third period. Obviously, I thought our energy sagged a little bit in the second after they scored. But we regrouped and I thought collectively as a group, the way that we played the third period was going to give us a chance to tie the game and find a way to win so you know, that's, that's what you gotta do. You gotta find ways to win and different nights and different situations and different circumstances. And we did that tonight."
Hynes on Nashville's Performance over the homestand:
"I think we got better in our game. You know, that was something that was important, you know, from a defensive standpoint, certain things which were good. The power plays I still think there's so much more there's so much more capable of doing more on the power play, but, you know, I think on this homestand we scored almost every game which is, you know, which is important. So this seems like some signs of life there. I think our penalty kill continues to get stronger and stronger. And I think overall, our team game, you know, we're coming up on what game 20 now. So, you know, knowing what, what's the game that gives us the best chance to win versus, you know, when we're not playing as much as we need to."
Hynes on the play of Glass:
"It was nice to see him get in there. I thought Cody's come in and played, you know, pretty well the last couple of games and now he's a skilled player, so you have an opportunity to put him in the shootout and, you know, I'm really glad for him. I mean, he works and we're trying to work with him to continue to get his game going. There's lots of potential there and for him that I think get in that situation and be able to get rewarded for it. I think it always helps an offensive guy's mindset."
