Chris Mason Set to Join Predators Radio Network for 2015-16 Season

by Press Release / Nashville Predators

Nashville, Tenn. (September 21, 2015) – Chris Mason, who played 135 games for the Nashville Predators over the course of seven seasons with the club, will join the Nashville Predators Radio Network as a color commentator for select games during the 2015-16 season. During the season, Mason will split color commentary duties with former Preds Associate Coach Brent Peterson, and call games alongside “The Voice of the Predators” Pete Weber, who will provide play-by-play.

Mason first joined the Predators on Oct. 5, 1998 when he was acquired via trade from the Anaheim Ducks. He would go on spend seven of the next eight seasons with the organization, splitting time between the Preds and the Milwaukee Admirals, the team’s IHL/AHL affiliate. After four seasons away from the Preds, Mason returned to Nashville as a free agent on July 1, 2012 and played 11 games for the team during the 2012-13 season. Throughout his career wearing Predators Gold, the Red Deer, Alberta native recorded 58 wins, a 2.61 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage.

A fan favorite, Mason returns to Music City following two seasons playing in Europe – one with the Italia A League’s Ritten-Renon and one with the German League’s Augsburg Panthers.

“I am excited and happy to be back in Nashville with my family for the next chapter of our lives,” Mason said. “I am really looking forward to rejoining the Nashville Predators family and working with all my friends in the organization.

“I love hockey, I love the fans of hockey and this opportunity gives me a chance to stay involved in the sport I have dedicated so much of my life to. I look forward to this new challenge of broadcasting and being part of the team that gave me my first opportunity to play in the NHL. I am also very eager to learn from and work with Pete Weber, Terry Crisp, Willy Daunic, Brent Peterson, Stu Grimson, Bob Kohl and the rest of the Nashville Predators media team, all of whom I know well and have the utmost respect for.”

Mason, and the rest of the Preds TV and Predators Radio Network broadcast crews will help contribute unique content to the web at and on the team’s social media channels (Twitter: @PredsNHL, Facebook: Nashville Predators Hockey Team) in addition to their on-air duties. The 2015-16 slate of programming, including information on FOX Sports Tennessee broadcasts and Predators LIVE! pre and postgame shows, will be announced soon on
