This year the Nashville Predators Foundation gave Camp Widjiwagan a grant to purchase a sailboat for the growing sailing program. The program offers campers an in-depth training on sailing which includes education of the different sail parts and terms as well as the actual sailing of the boat. On July 30 Predators staff toured Camp Widjiwagan and visited the chapel to receive a plaque for their donation. Predators’ staff and Gnash have also visited the camp several times this summer for hockey clinics.
Camp Widjiwagan has been voted the #1 day camp in Middle Tennessee for the past ten years. With the new addition of cabins for overnight campers, over 2900 children attended camp this summer. The camp offers a unique experience with the focus of character building while instilling Christian values in the campers. Respect, responsibility, team work, confidence, and independence are life necessary skills that are taught through camp experiences. The camp is located on four miles of Piercy Priest Lake shore and offers numerous water programs including water polo, kayaking, sailing, fishing and canoeing.
