Budish, Watson Make First Cut at Team USA Camp

by Staff Writer / Nashville Predators
Preds prospects Zach Budish and Austin Watson both made the first cut at Team USA's Junior Evaluation Camp in Lake Placid, NY, two of the 28 prospects remaining in Camp for exhibition games against Junior National Teams for Finland and Sweden.

Budish, a second round pick by the Preds in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, participated in Team USA's Junior Evaluation Camp last summer, but was one of the final cuts for last year's World Junior squad. Watson, Nashville's first round pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, is the highest selected forward in Team USA's camp this year (18th overall; Chris Kreider and Nick Bjugstad were both selected 19th overall in their respective draft year).

The camp, which serves as a major part of the selection process for this winter's World Junior Championships, opened on July 30. Initially 42 prospects were invited to the camp. After three days of practices and intra-squad scrimmages, USA Hockey pared down the roster to 28 players.
