Preds prospects Jonathon Blum
and Chet Pickard
were named to the 2008-09 WHL Western Conference First Team All-Stars. Blum is one of two finalist for the WHL Defenseman of the Year award, while Pickard is one of two finalists for the WHL Goaltender of the Year. The final award winners will be announced at the WHL Awards Luncheon on April 29.
Blum, Nashville's 2007 first round pick, was a unanimous first team selection, finishing the season with 16 goals and 66 points 51 games for the Vancouver Giants, despite missing time due the World Junior Championships in December/January and time due to injury in February. Blum also posted an incredible +53 plus/minus rating this year.
Pickard, a 2008 first round pick by the Predators, posted a 35-12-3 record with six shutouts, a 2.28 goals against average, and a .921 save percentage this season. He was 14-2-0 in his last 16 starts and finished the campaign in the top-five in save percentage (2nd), shutouts (T-3rd), wins (4th), and goals against average (5th).Click here for the WHL All-Star Team press release
