Nashville Predators captain Jason Arnott was named the National Hockey League's Third Star of the Week for period ending Dec. 23.
Arnott had four goals and four assists in four games this past week, including his seventh career hat trick and first four-point game of the season in a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday.
The 6-4, 220-pound centerman also recorded one goal and one assist at Minnesota last Tuesday, in addition to notching an assist the following night in Chicago.
The eight-point week vaulted Arnott into the team lead in both points (29) and goals (12). He is also paces the Preds in shots (113), and is tied for the plus/minus lead (+7).
This is the third time in 2007-08 that a Predator has been honored as an NHL star of the week - Chris Mason was named third star on Oct. 8 and Martin Erat
garnered third-star honors on Nov. 19.
Minnesota Wild forward Marian Gaborik was named First Star and Atlanta Thrasher goalie Kari Lehtonen was named Second Star.
Arnott, Erat, Mason, and the rest of the Predators will be out to make it three victories in a row when they take on the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center on Wednesday, Dec. 26. All the action will be available on both FSN South and WGFX-104.5 The Zone. Opening faceoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. CT.
